Free Voice seeks General Manager for MENA program

General Manager "Investing in the Future" Program


About The Program

"Investing in the Future" is a unique capacity building program for the media sector in six Arab countries (Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain and Yemen). Together with partners in most of these countries, especially the Center for Defending the Freedom of Journalists in Amman, Free Voice is working towards an 'Arab Media Community of Change' through different channels, including training, institutional capacity building and networking.

About Free Voice

Free Voice - Dutch Support for Media in Development is an independent Dutch foundation that was established in 1986 by the Dutch Association of Journalists (NVJ), the Dutch Daily Newspaper association (NDP), the Dutch Society of Editors-in-chief and Radio Netherlands Worldservice (RNW). Free Voice aims at the support and strengthening of independent and pluralistic Media, balanced and reliable journalism and press freedom in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Profile

a.    Arabic native speaker, fluency in English
b.    Demonstrated experience in personnel, financial and organizational management
c.    Graduate degree in a relevant subject
d.    Team player, flexible
e.    Sense of humor
f.    Familiar with working with international and Arab NGO's
g.    Ability to work pro-actively in a rapidly changing media and professional environment
h.    Excellent computer skills
i.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
j.    Knowledge of and experience in training programs


Tasks

1.    Managing the Investing in the Future Program Office

Prepare annual budgets in consultation with Free Voice and monitor expenditures.
Supervise the finances of the program.
Manage the Program Office team on all financial and contractual matters.
Supervise the content of activities in consultation with the Training Coordinator.
Enhance the professionalism of the Program Office, its durability and capacity.
Be a people's manager to the Program Office team.

2.    Liaising and Communication

Co-ordinate and liaise with local authorities.
Represent the program at specified NGO and donor meetings and coordinate representation with the Liaison Committee.
Co-ordinate with Free Voice, country committees of Investing in the Future and partner organizations.

3.    Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

Supervision of implementation and monitoring and evaluation of results. Assurance of follow-up and reporting to Stakeholders. Assessing the impact of training and networking activities.
Reporting on results, based on a monitoring protocol provided by Free Voice.

4.    Process Management

Certifying that the Program Office functions according to the contracts and protocols.
Uphold contracts and protocols with regard to partner organizations.
Inform Free Voice on the functioning of the above and suggest improvements.

5.    Communication

Be the central contact of the Program Office for different stakeholders in the program.
Coordinate with CDFJ on all matters regarding the regional program.
Inform the director of Free Voice on all information needed for the Liaison Committee.

6.    Financial Accountability
